well there was a story on top gear about how much petrol it cost extra to run a small vehicle with a beard, they say the average beard wieghs 5grams and if you drive a fiesta it cost a stagering £5 extra a year to carry it in the car lmfao and small proportion? there were hundreds, they were everywhere behind infront to the side all them horses and i couldnt gallop lol

lmao, i dont think ive ever seen a scv overtake anything you should come to the islands, we moved here 4 years ago from north yorkshire and would never go back. stop at ours for a coffee too if you fancy, so i can look at your 2cv's, let me know if your comeing and i can give you directions . they actually look really fun to drive, in the same par as a mini, suzuki sj or any small old vehicles that you have to drive, not them drive you.

You must've come across a (small) proportion of the International Rally, held in the Borders last year. A few continued further, but the Finns did it right - a coastal tour of Ireland in the preceding week, apparently. It wasn't the number of cars which shocked the most, but the number of beards. My neighbours still talk about them.

Noooo! avoid clubs and crowds like the plague... I'm not really a very good sheep, can organise and plan better for myself than others can! We managed to overtake 18 cars, 3 coaches and 2 HGVs through Glen Coe, heading South. Anyone who told you a 2CV is slow has either never driven a decent one on good roads or can't drive. So that's most English, to start with. Uist nest time, p'rhaps. If there are less than 10, you might find I'm one of them!! Thanks for enjoying.

lol did you go to uist? i had to go down to north yorkshire from uist to see familly either last year or the year before and there was hundreds of 2cv's heading to skye. must admit though at the time i was less than amused i was stuck doing 30 lol were you there?

Thoses cars are ugly and noisy and not a lot of power either, but great fun to drive. That road is a lot steeper than it looks on the film and the fact they climbed it so easily speaks for itself. I met a lot of 2CVs 2 years ago that had gone through Europe, we stopped at F1 in Newcastle and they came in ones and two's till the car park was full. A lot of them were towing trailers as well and some had extra cooling fans fitted. Thanks for posting the video. Enjoyed it! :D

Yes, unless you meet someone coming the other way! But the flat twin goes all the better for hard work, and thrives on revs. For an engine designed in the war, an average life of 120-150k before any rebuilding is needed to keep all the 29 horses eager isn't bad... What a magical part of the world.

Heh, looks familiar. I used to live just across the loch from Greshornish, and when I went up to Applecross last year went up the Bealach na Bó - stunning. I'm guessing my Citroën XM V6-24 had an easier time on the hills than the 2CVs though ;-)
